Day 1: Crafting Fire & Tradition
Your journey begins with a warm welcome around an open fire, accompanied by a cup of tea and an introduction to the days ahead. Then it’s straight into the action:
•Charcoal Burning: Learn the art of making high quality charcoal using wood from our ongoing sustainably managed woodland. Discover the process, light the burn, and watch this age-old practice come to life.
•Greenwood Craft: While the kiln works its magic, dive into the art of greenwood crafting. Guided by experienced tutors, you’ll:
•Learn to use traditional tools like shave horses, axes, crook knives, and more.
•Create beautiful, practical items such as spatulas, butter knives, walking sticks, or even a three-legged stool.
•Master safe knife techniques and the essentials of tool sharpening to keep your craft alive long after the workshop.
Day 2: Fire to Finish
The second day begins with the exciting reveal of your eco-friendly charcoal as we open the kiln and celebrate with a delicious barbecue cooked over the fruits of your labor. After lunch, you’ll have time to:
•Complete any unfinished greenwood projects.
•Refine your new skills under the guidance of our experts.
•Take home practical, handmade items and the confidence to continue crafting on your own.
