Step into the wild and unlock the secrets of fire and camp craft in this immersive two-day course. Designed for outdoor enthusiasts and survival skill seekers, this hands-on experience will give you the knowledge and confidence to light and maintain a fire, set up a functional and comfortable camp, and thrive in the great outdoors.

Two-Day Workshop: Charcoal Making and Greenwood Crafts

Dates: 2nd to 3rd August 2025

Experience two transformative days within our 40-acre ancient oak woodland in Cornwall. Your workshop begins with a warm welcome around an open fire, accompanied by a cup of tea, where we’ll outline the coming days. Then, we’ll kick things off by teaching you the art of charcoal burning to make quality sustainable charcoal, using wood produced from ongoing woodland management.

Introduction to Greenwood Crafting including Knife and Axe Safety

Dates: 28th June 2025

Greenwood craft is the age-old method of making practical and beautiful objects from freshly cut ‘green’ wood. Under the guidance of our experienced tutors, learn how to use traditional hand tools like shave horses, axes, and crook knives to create spatulas, butter knives, wooden flowers and walking sticks. You’ll also learn safe knife techniques as well as the principles and practicalities of tool sharpening, an essential for greenwood craft. Expect a steady supply of tea and coffee and a hearty lunch cooked over the open fire.

1-Day Firelighting Introduction: Master the Art of Fire by Friction

Dates: 29th June 2025

Discover the ancient and empowering skill of firelighting in this immersive one-day workshop. Designed for beginners and outdoor enthusiasts alike, this course will teach you how to create fire using nothing but wood, determination, and time-honored techniques.

Did this course yesterday with my 87 year old dad, sister and niece. The setting was stunning-bluebell woods, river, open meadow and the sound of birds all day. Phil was an excellent teacher and very patient! We made ladles, spoons and flowers and learned how to use a variety of tools. We all really loved the day and would thoroughly recommend it. My son and I spent a night in the woods, we loved it, built our own dens to sleep in, had our own fire to boil our kettle on, we were right next the stream, it was lovely and relaxing, the only noise was the sound of wildlife. It was an amazing experience to sleep out in the woods, looking up through the trees at the stars. Phil made an amazing beef stew on the campfire, and cooked breakfast. We also did some knife craft. Perfect to get away from it all. Thanks

A wonderful and deeply nourishing day away from the busy world, it was such a gift to experience the beauty of all that nature holds, to be guided in really seeing, smelling and feeling so much more than I ever have before and I spend a great deal of time in nature.
